1. Dr. Stephanie Shaps, DUMBO's first ever pediatrician and mother to two children at PS 8, sadly passed away from Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. A memorial honoring her life will be held on December 5th at Tribeca 360. (Brooklyn Bridge Parents)
2. Fire hit a Brooklyn Heights brownstone on Henry Street, causing the most damage on its second and third floors. As of writing there are no known reported injuries from the incident, which was attended by fire engines from at least 12 different companies. (Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
3. In the Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO police blotter: a gang robbed a guy on November 19th in Brooklyn Bridge Park, and cops arrested a man for allegedly stealing a woman's phone near Borough Hall on November 18th. (Brooklyn Paper)
4. The Brooklyn Women's Exchange, at 55 Pierrepont Street, between Henry and Hicks, is expanding its hours for the holiday season. It's a great place to go shopping for independent and artisan good. (Brooklyn Heights Blog)
5. The controversial Gowanus neighborhood rezoning passed City Council yesterday, after a last-minute deal orchestrated in part by Councilmember Stephen Levin. Opponents of the rezoning vow that a lawsuit is coming soon. (NYC Patch)
