Here are the top three stories today in Brooklyn Heights-DUMBO:

1. A 107-year-old Norwegian ship is docked at the Brooklyn Marina through at least the end of the year. The Statsraad Lehmkuhl is on a two-year journey circumnavigating the globe as a research hub to raise awareness about the importance of the oceans for sustainable development. (Time Out NY)
2. Work is just beginning at the "Alloy Block" development in Downtown Brooklyn, which consists of two glassy towers at 80 and 100 Flatbush Avenue. The latter will be the first fully-electric tower in New York City, and includes over 400 units of housing, with 45 of them so-called affordable. (New York YIMBY)
3. In the midst of all the high-profile rezonings in New York City (Gowanus, SoHo/NoHo, River Ring in Williamsburg), a lesser-known one just passed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, which, according to the Department of City Planning, "will facilitate the expansion of the Brooklyn Navy Yard with 4.6 million square feet of new space for manufacturing, commercial, and community facility uses in Community District 2, Brooklyn."
