  1. New York City's parks are teaming with wildlife that haven't been seen there in decades. That includes Brooklyn Bridge Park, which is now home to rare bees, moths, pollinating flies, butterflies and birds, according to Rebecca McMackin, the park's director of horticulture. That includes the rare blueberry digger bee, seen only once over the past decade, that was recently spotted in the park. (New York Times)
  2. Joe Landolina, a Brooklyn Heights native, started a company Cresilon that created a gel to quickly stop bleeding. Originally intended for use by veterinarians treating animals, Landolina says it has the potential to help humans as well. (News 12 Bronx)
  3. Downtown Brooklyn's first supertall skyscraper has officially topped off at 1066 ft and 93 stories. It's built within the facade of the landmarked early 20th-century Dime Savings Bank building at 9 DeKalb, and cost $750 million total to develop. (CNN)
  4. Here's the latest on the proposals for the new Climate Research Center on Governor's Island which will take up approx. 33 acres of parkland. Potential collaborators include Oxford, Yale, Stanford, Columbia, and Stony Brook universities. (The City via NYC Patch)
