Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn Heights-DUMBO:

1. Downtown Brooklyn is ‘in the Middle of Everything’ according to The New York Times, which just released an extended real estate report on the neighborhood, reflecting on the tall glass condo towers "mushrooming" out of the ground. For the most part, while some of the towers include a percentage of affordable housing, the average rent in the area remains at many thousands of dollars per month. (The New York Times)
2. The "Murals for The Movement" social-justice themed murals in DUMBO are all finished, showcasing the work of Brooklyn artists. They have a particular significance standing at the crossroads of, on the one hand, a neighborhood where less than 4% of residents are Black, and the public housing development Farragut Houses where over 50% of tenants are of Caribbean descent. 3. The city announced seven new testing sites and five new at-home test distribution centers on Wednesday. Also, starting on December 27th COVID tests will be available at Grand Central and Penn Station. (NYC Patch)
