FDNY Headquarters Evacuated After Suspicious Package Found
Police and fire officials were investigating a suspicious package at FDNY's Brooklyn headquarters on the eve of 9/11, authorities said.
DOWNTOWN, BROOKLYN — The fire department partially evacuated their Brooklyn headquarters Monday amid fears of a bomb scare, according to FDNY and the NYPD.
Police and fire officials are investigating a suspicious package discovered in an office at the fire department's 9 MetroTech Center headquarters near Flatbush Avenue Extension at 3:20 p.m., a fire department spokesman said.
As a precaution, FDNY partially evacuated the building. The bomb scare comes on the eve of the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, where two planes crashed into the World Trade Centers and killed nearly 3,000 people.
