  1. Business leaders are seriously considering tearing down the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and replacing it with an underground tunnel to connect with the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel. The city's current plan is to maintain the current highway through "preservation strategies" for the next 19 years. (New York Post )
  2. Councilmembers Brad Lander and Stephen Levin reached an agreement with nonprofit leaders on the hotly contested Gowanus rezoning, allowing it to pass the City Council's Land Use committee. Supporters say the plan will bring in hundreds of affordable housing units to the affluent area while offering much needed funding to the nearby NYCHA development. Opponents fear the potential health and environmental impacts of up-zoning the flood-prone area. (Gothamist)
