Huntington opponents of declawing cats will present the documentary The Paw Project Wednesday at the Cinema Arts Centre.
The Golden Paw Society wants to defend cats against the practice it considers barbaric, hoping to ban it in Huntington and elsewhere.
"Unfortunately, most people are unaware of what declawing entails," Eileen Osmers of the Golden Paw Society said. "Most think it is a simple removal of claws, or a nail trimming, when in fact it requires toe-tip amputation of each little toe that is declawed."
The Paw Project will air at 7:30 p.m.
The presentation is a fundraiser for the society. There will also be a reception and raffle baskets after the film. Tickets are $10 for members, $15 for others, including reception.Â
