'Families Belong Together' Rally To Be Held In Huntington Station
The event is one of many rallies across the nation planned for June 30.

Long Island residents will protest the separation of over 2,000 immigrant children from their families at a "Families Belong Together" rally in Huntington Station on Saturday, June 30.
"We demand that the families so brutally torn apart be reunited," the Huntington Station event flyer said. "We demand an end to the indefinite detention of children and families that criminalizes parents seeking safety for their children."
The rally will take place near Route 110 and Jericho Turnpike at 1 p.m.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday to end the border policy of separating immigrant families, but the order does not address what to do with the thousands of children who have already been taken from their parents/guardians and placed in detention facilities.
The overall message from the cause is outlined in the organization's event description, saying, "Donald Trump and his administration are cruelly separating children from their families. But we won't allow it to continue. On June 30, we're rallying in Washington, D.C., and around the country to tell Donald Trump and his administration to stop separating kids from their parents!"

The protest aims at bringing attention to the Trump administration "systematically criminalizing immigration and immigrants, from revoking Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) to ramping up intimidating ICE tactics."
The June 30 event is in coordination with similar rallies in Washington DC and around the country at the same time, and will be peaceful with no civil disobedience involved.
