Harborfields Edges Win In Inaugural Army/Navy Football Game

"A true nail-biter!" a Town of Huntington spokesperson said of the game.

GREENLAWN, NY — The Harborfields High School Tornadoes (Army) edged out the Deer Park High School Falcons (Navy) in the Town of Huntington's inaugural Army vs. Navy football game on Saturday.

Harborfields defeated Deer Park 27-26.

"A great win by Harborfields!" a town spokesperson said. "A true nail-biter! Both teams played exceptionally well."

The game was held at the James T. Brennan Memorial Stadium at Harborfields High School.

The match will be played annually in remembrance of Fred Amore of East Northport. Amore was a Vietnam veteran, Purple Heart recipient and the longest-serving commander of VFW Post #9263 of Elwood/Commack. He also served as vice chairman of the Huntington Veterans Advisory Board and the committee that selects military academy appointees.
