Here Are The Long Island Pier 1 Imports Stores Closing
Pier 1 Imports plans to close hundreds of stores in the coming months. Several Long Island locations confirmed they're among them.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Several Pier 1 Imports stores on Long Island will join hundreds nationwide in closing their doors this year, Patch has confirmed. The chain, which has 11 locations on the island, previously announced it planned to close up to 450 locations, or roughly half its fleet. The closures were intended to "better align its business with the current operating environment."
While the company has yet to publish a full list of closures, Business Insider reported the chain erased more than 260 stores across 43 states from its website. That included eight locations on Long Island, seven of which confirmed to Patch on Friday that they either planned to close, had ongoing liquidation sales or both.

As Patch previously reported, the company plans to close some distribution centers and lower its corporate spending, as well as lay off workers at the corporate level. Pier 1 said it will use a third-party liquidator to help with the closings, noting that its lenders signed off on its plan to reduce its brick-and-mortar footprint.
Robert Riesbeck, CEO and CFO of the retail chain thanked store workers for their hard work and commitment to serving customers.
