LI Man Found Guilty Of Sexually Abusing His 2 Daughters: DA

The man sexually abused his daughters in 2012, who were ages 10 and 8 at the time, while promising them gifts, the DA said.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A 50-year-old Huntington man was found guilty of repeatedly sexually abusing his two daughters, who are both minors, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney announced Thursday.

The man, who was not named by the DA to protect the identity of his daughters, was convicted of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and other related charges, the DA said. The trial lasted around two weeks.

"This defendant violated the innocence of his two young daughters, who now have to live with the trauma of what their father did to them," Tierney said in a news release. "I commend the victims in their bravery to come forward to testify against their father. These victims came forward as adults to disclose abuse that had happened when they were very young. I urge anyone who was abused as a child to come forward to law enforcement and let us know, so that we can protect other children."

In February 2012, the father began sexually abusing his oldest daughter, who was 10 years old at the time, prosecutors said. A short time later, the man began to also sexually abuse his younger daughter, who was 8 years old at the time, officials said.

The father began to abuse both girls simultaneously and abused one child in front of the other, authorities said.

The abuse occurred while the girls’ mother was at work, and the father would often use the promise of gifts to lure the children into the abuse again, investigators said. The abuse ended around September 2012 when the girls' mother was home more often, prosecutors said.

The daughters initially disclosed the abuse to members of their church, and later as young adults, they reported it to law enforcement, authorities said.

The man was arrested on Aug. 30, 2023, and held on $250K cash, $500K bond, or $2.5 million partially-secured bond, officials said.

The father was convicted on Wednesday of two counts of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and two counts of first-degree incest, the DA said.

The man is due back in court for sentencing on June 17 and faces up to 50 years in prison. He will be required to register as a sex offender, the DA said. He is being represented by Andrew Karpf.
