Huntington Police Blotter: Man Steals $8,650 Worth Of Necklaces

HUNTINGTON, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area from Nov. 4 through Nov. 10.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

Arrests

• Nov. 5: Michael Delvecchio, 32, of Smithtown, stole necklaces, valued at $8,650 overall, from Kay Jewelers, at 160 Walt Whitman Road, Huntington Station, around 5:15 p.m. Sept. 30, police said. He was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny: value exceeds $3,000.
• Nov. 5: Aneurys Lopez-Ruiz, 24, of Huntington Station, stabbed someone with a knife on New York Avenue in Huntington Station around 2:30 a.m. Oct. 26, police said. The person who was stabbed went to the hospital, police said. Around 7:50 p.m. Nov. 5, Lopez-Ruiz was found to be in possession of cocaine on New York Avenue in Huntington Station, police said. He was arrested and charged with second-degree assault: intent to cause physical injury with weapon/instrument and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance: cocaine 500 milligrams.

Incidents

• Nov. 8: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Gerard Street in Huntington at 9 a.m. Someone deposited a washed business check, police said.
• Nov. 6: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Knollwood Avenue in Huntington at 10:50 a.m. Someone called a phone number on a computer screen, thinking it was a help line, police said. The person was told they needed to withdraw cash from the bank, police said. The person withdrew the money, police said. A man showed up at the person's home, and the person paid them cash, police said.
