Huntington Police Blotter: Man Steals Sunglasses From Same Store On Two Separate Days

ALSO: Woman steals sunglasses; and driver steals other driver's cellphone following crash, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area from May 5 through May 11.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • May 8: Mauricio Blanco-Tavera, 23, of Amityville, stole four pairs of sunglasses from Saks Fifth Avenue on Walt Whitman Road in South Huntington on April 9, police said. Blanco-Tavera stole more pairs of sunglasses from the same store on May 8, police said. He was arrested and charged with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny: value of property more than $1,000, police said.

Incidents

  • May 9: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Walt Whitman Road in Huntington Station at 6:33 p.m. A woman stole multiple pairs of sunglasses from Macy's, police said.
  • May 6: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Marion Place in South Huntington at 2:43 p.m. A person was involved in a minor motor vehicle crash with a second vehicle, police said. The second vehicle fled, police said. When the driver followed the person who fled to confront them, the driver who fled stole the motorist's cell phone and drove off, police said.
