Huntington Police Blotter: Power Tools Stolen In Business Burglary

ALSO: Bitcoin scam; two fraudulent checks paid; and a scammer pretended to be a bank representative, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area from Oct. 14 through Oct. 20.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Oct. 17: Juan Fransico, 41, of Huntington Station, broke into Yanez Stone Design, at 120 Railroad St., Huntington Station, at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 16, police said. He stole power tools, police said. Fransico was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary: illegal entry with intent to commit a crime and petty larceny.

Incidents

  • Oct. 18: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Cabernet Court in Huntington at 11:41 a.m. Someone tricked someone else using a Bitcoin scam, police said.
  • Oct. 16: Grand larceny (second-degree) was reported on Park Avenue in Huntington at 2:30 p.m. Two fraudulent checks were paid out of someone's business account, police said.
  • Oct. 14: Identity theft (first-degree) was reported on Gerard Street in Huntington 12:57 p.m. Someone called someone else, pretending to be from a bank, and scammed them, police said.
