From the South Huntington School District
At this point the radar models (and a look out the window) have the snow moving in at a faster rate than originally expected. As a result, we are going to initiate an early dismissal, which releases our K-8 students according to the schedule shared earlier in the year and copied below.
Our high school is already on a modified testing schedule and we will still be administering the English and Algebra I Common Core Regents to our students as scheduled but moving that up to 11:15AM. This means that those English Regents buses will be arriving an hour early.
For your information, the early release times are as follows:
Stimson Middle School and Silas Wood: 12 p.m.
Birchwood and Maplewood: 12 p.m.
Oakwood and Countrywood: 1 p.m.
Of course, all after school and evening activities are cancelled and school will not be in session tomorrow (Tuesday). We will be in touch on Tuesday evening to provide updates regarding the snow removal progress.
Please stay safe.
