Man Pulled From West Hills Pool Dies: Police

The man was found unresponsive in the pool on May 19, police say. He was pronounced dead, police stated in an update Wednesday.

HUNTINGTON, NY — The man who was pulled unresponsive from a West Hills pool on May 19 has died, Suffolk police said Wednesday.

Ellery Smith, 45, of Huntington Station, was identified by police as the man who drowned.

Police were called to a West Hills Road home at 2 p.m. May 19 when Smith, an acquaintance of the homeowner, was found unresponsive in the swimming pool, police said. A resident of the home began CPR until first responders arrived, police said.
