Man Struck by Car, Seriously Injured in Huntington Station
The incident occurred Wednesday evening, police say.

A 76-year-old man was seriously injured when he was struck by a car while crossing a Huntington Station street Wednesday evening, authorities said.
Suffolk County Police say Zahir Wahidi, 76, of Huntington Station, was walking across New York Avenue when he was struck by a 2004 Honda, just north of Saddler Court, at approximately 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Two Huntington Community First Aid Squad (HCFAS) ambulances and a first-responder vehicle were called to the scene and treated Wahidi before he was airlifted by police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital. There, Wahidi was treated for a serious head injury. The driver of the Honda, Kimberly Mancini, 48, of Huntington Station, was not injured, police said.

The Honda was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
