HUNTINGTON, NY — Osteria Da Nino, a restaurant in Huntington, has closed after 20 years, as owners Nino and Kelley Antuzzi took to Facebook to share that they are downsizing.

The Antuzzis also own Sapsuckers and Red. They made the decision to close Osteria Da Nino to spend more time with one another.

"Our little Italian restaurant has truly been an amazing part of our family and we are ever grateful for all those who brought it to life… we ate well, we drank wine, we laughed and cried, we exchanged stories... all together with you," the couple wrote on the restaurant's Facebook page.

The two were running Red, a restaurant featuring local and organic ingredients transformed into new American fare, by day when they built a restaurant together at night, in the summer of 2003.

Inside Osteria Da Nino, the family painted the walls a "dramatic pumpkin hue," hung photographs they took during trips to Sardinia, and designed a menu and wine list that "emulated the warmth of Italy ... a comforting hug of pasta & a kiss of cannonau."

Osteria Da Nino's menu featured appetizers, salads, individual stone-baked pizza, pasta, and entrees.

They have ran multiple restaurants for years.

"After just over two decades, our knees hurt a little more than they used to and our time apart seems longer," the couple wrote. "Our decision to downsize has been bittersweet and difficult, but we are excited that our Osteria will become a canvas for a new owner, chef and team to flourish. And we are not gone, nor the hay & straw, nonna’s meatballs or the eggplant parmigiana… So we say thank you, thank you, thank you… not goodbye."

The Antuzzis invited their customers to visit their other restaurants, Red or Sapsuckers, where they will "pick up the story where we left off."

Red and Sapsuckers are both in Huntington. Sapsuckers is a pub with a menu centered on sandwiches, comfort food entrees, tacos, and appetizers.
