Service Held To Dedicate Charles A. Oddo Verleye Park

On Sunday, June 26, public officials and local residents gathered to dedicate Charles A. Oddo Verleye Park, formerly Verleye Park, in honor of the the police officer who died in 1996.

Oddo's family members attended the event, along with members of the New York Police Highway Patrol, Suffolk County Police, Commack Fire Department, and New York Police Ceremonial Unit.

A sign displaying the parks new name was unveiled as part of the ceremony.

Oddo was killed on February 17, 1996, when a car hit him while he was setting up flares around an overturned gas truck on the highway.
