South Huntington 2024-25 School Budget Passes With Ease
See whether the South Huntington School District's budget passed this year.

SOUTH HUNTINGTON, NY — Residents within the boundaries of the South Huntington School District on Tuesday voted to pass the 2024-25 school budget by a margin of 771 yes votes to 268 no votes.
The district's budget is $217,524,666, up 4.04 percent from last year's. The tax levy is $126,629,190, up 2.4 percent.
Proposition 2, for capital improvements at Walt Whitman High School, passed with 825 yes votes to 200 no votes. Capital improvements now authorized include the replacement of boilers, including all labor, materials and equipment. Improvements would be paid from the proceeds of the sale of real estate and are estimated to cost no more than $2.5 million.

Three school board candidates ran unopposed.

- Frederick R. Scragg: 782 votes
- Erin E. Meijer: 782 votes
