The department deemed the message "non-credible" based on their investigation, D'Elia said.

"In an abundance of caution, the Suffolk County Police Department will be providing an increased presence as an added layer of security around our schools today," he said. "In instances such as these, we will continue to share information with the community to alleviate parent concerns with any police activity within our school district. We also ask that you continue to speak with your child about the dangers of making statements of a threatening nature on social media and digital forums."
