Car Goes Aflame On Southern State Parkway, Closes Lanes: 511NY

ISLIP, NY — A vehicle went aflame on Southern State Parkway Tuesday morning, New York State Police said.

At about 8:45 a.m, a car caught fire westbound as it traveled westbound between Exit 43S - NY 111 (Islip) and Exit 42N - CR 13, near Islip.

The driver was able to pull off the roadway onto the shoulder safely and there were no injuries, police said.
