Driver Dies At Scene Of Southern State Parkway Crash: Police

All lanes on Southern State Parkway are now open, police say.

ISLIP, NY — The driver involved in a crash on the Southern State Parkway in Islip was pronounced dead at the scene Monday, police said.

The identity of the victim involved in the crash is being withheld pending notification of their family, New York State Police said.

New York State Police are still investigating the crash, which took place on the eastbound Southern State Parkway near exit 40S in Islip, authorities said.

After the crash, which took place at 2:47 p.m., all lanes of the Southern State Parkway eastbound at Exit 39 and the Southern State Parkway westbound left lane were closed during the ongoing investigation, police said.
