Firefighters extinguished a brush fire near the Long Island Rail Road tracks in Islip on Wednesday, officials told Patch.

ISLIP, NY – Firefighters extinguished a brush fire near the Long Island Rail Road tracks in Islip on Wednesday, officials told Patch.

Officials said they received a call reporting the fire behind 66 Moffitt Blvd. along the train tracks shortly before 2 p.m. Upon arrival, crews found a 50-foot area of brush burning, officials said.

Firefighters said the crews of engines 3-4-7, 3-4-1 and 3-4-9 extinguished the fire and train service in the area was suspended for around 30 minutes.
