A possible flash flooding warning is issued for Long Island on Thursday, the National Weather Service says.
LONG ISLAND, NY — A hazardous weather outlook was issued by the National Weather Service for Long Island on Thursday, for possible flash flooding at night.
While Thursday afternoon is expected to be sunny with a high of 86, a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms will occur after 3 a.m.
Heavy rain — and possible hail — will continue throughout Friday and into the night, with a 70 percent chance of precipitation.

Saturday may ease up on the rain, with a 30 percent chance of precipitation. But it will come back stronger on Sunday, a 70 percent chance of precipitation.

Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 11am and 2pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. South wind, 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Friday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 2 a.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. South wind 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog before 8 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. South wind 7 to 11 mph.
Saturday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74.
