Hometown Hero: Woman Works Tirelessly At Nonprofit To Help Others
We all know someone who's making a difference. Let's help share their amazing stories! Presented by Ring.

ISLIP, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Stephen Kass who nominated his fiancee Melissa Ferrante, of Islip, who works the nonprofit for Parents for Megan's Law. The Ronkonoma-based social services organization which works to prevent and treat child sexual abuse and rape.

According to Kass, throughout the whole pandemic Ferrante consistently went to the office every day, working hard as the manager of the prevention department. She worked creating power points, flyers and other educational documents to provide people with the knowledge of rape prevention.
"She puts the needs of others above her own for as long as I've known her," Kass wrote.
