LONG ISLAND, NY — It's a new month on Long Island — but April showers will continue to pour in the first week of May.

Rain is expected to begin on Monday night and persist again Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday holds a 50 percent chance of showers, lasting into Thursday.

Friday is predicted to be the week's only dry, sunny, day, with a high of 57 degrees.

Tuesday: Showers likely, mainly before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56. Southwest wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: A chance of showers before 8pm, then a slight chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. West wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of showers, mainly after 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 54. Southwest wind around 9 mph.

Wednesday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43.

Thursday: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 57.
