LIRR Trains Canceled, Delayed During AM Chase Of Lotto Ticket Thief
An incident in Islip Tuesday caused problems on the Babylon and Montauk lines.
ISLIP, NY — A Suffolk County Deputy Sheriff Investigator saw a man stealing a large amount of lotto tickets at a 7-Eleven on Union Boulevard at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
The suspect ran out of the store with the tickets and got into a vehicle, according to the sheriff's office. The Deputy Sheriff was able to stop the car, but the man got out and fled into the neighborhood.
Two people in the car were detained for questioning.

The search around the Babylon train station caused problems for the morning rail commute on the Babylon and Montauk lines. Two LIRR trains were cancelled and two were delayed for 15-20 minutes, an MTA spokesman said.
The investigation is ongoing, the Suffolk Sheriff's Office said.
