Man Charged With Driving Intoxicated With 3 Kids In Car On LIE: NYSP
The children aged 5, 6, and 7 were in the car when it was stopped by a state trooper, police said.
ISLIP, NY — A man was arrested and charged with Leandra's Law on Sunday, after he was driving intoxicated with three children in Islip, New York State Police said.
A Honda Pilot was traveling westbound on the Long Island Expressway near exit 53 just after midnight, when it was stopped by a trooper for a vehicle and traffic infraction.
The driver of the Honda, Luis Lucero, 50 of Jackson Heights, was found to be intoxicated and driving with three children in the vehicle, ages 5, 6, and 7, police said.

Lucero was charged with aggravated DWI Leandra Law and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
He will be arraigned in Suffolk County First District Court on Oct. 2.

"The actions of this Trooper very well could have averted tragedy, please don’t drink and drive," police said.
