Thunderstorms Possible On Long Island After Rainy Weekend

Thunderstorms were possible Monday on Long Island following a weekend of rain.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Long Island may see thunderstorms Monday, but the sun will return this week following a weekend of rain and storms.

The National Weather Service called for a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday, and a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday night, mainly before 8 p.m.

Tuesday was expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 86 degrees.

Wednesday will be the hottest day of the week, with a high near 88 degrees. Sunny weather will continue throughout Thursday, but rain is expected to return at night, with a 50 percent chance of precipitation.

Monday: 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. Southwest wind 8 to 10 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 72. Southwest wind 7 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 88. Southwest wind 8 to 11 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 73.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 86.

Thursday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers after 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72.

Friday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
