Town Of Islip Warns Residents About Fraudulent Deed Notice Scam

Several residents recently received fraudulent notices in the mail, the Town said.

TOWN OF ISLIP, NY — The Town of Islip is warning residents about a fraudulent deed processing scam.

Several community members recently received fraudulent deed processing notices via traditional mail, which suggests there has been a transfer of a Grant Deed or other title recorded in the recipient's name, and requests payment be made in order to receive a copy, the town said.

The Town was later made aware of the notices.

"Please be on the lookout for such notices and remain vigilant and skeptical of any bill or request for payment that you do not recognize," the Town said in a release. "Do not attempt to follow any provided links. Do not attempt to call the provided number(s). When in doubt, always reach out to an agency you trust for more information."
