Division Avenue Marching Band Brings Home Honors
The band received its highest score ever at a competition at Syracuse University.

LEVITTOWN, NY — The Division Avenue High School marching band has been hard at work with performances, including its participation in a championship in Syracuse.
On Oct. 9, the band facilitated an open house and clinic for students in grades 3-6. Band members worked with young students to learn music from Star Wars and perform for family and friends. The event was also in benefit of the Wisdom Lane Food Pantry, which received non-perishable food items donated by band members and attendees.
On Oct. 30, the marching band attended the New York State Field Band Conference 2021 Championships at Syracuse University. Band members from both Division Avenue High School and General Douglas MacArthur High School achieved one of the highest scores in the group’s history in championship competitions with their show, “Dare to Dream.” After a year of not being able to compete due to the pandemic, the students performed in front of a live crowd in the Syracuse Carrier Dome.

“These students pour their hearts and souls into the marching band every day — I’m lucky to have an opportunity to witness it,” Marching Band Director Chris Rossi said. “Their performances inspired many, from fans, to parents, to even me. These are, hands down, some of the most driven students in the community and their achievements show just that.”
