Nassau Man Charged With Murder In Double Shooting At His Home

Police say two people were found with gunshot wounds inside a home this week. A woman is dead and a man was charged with murder.

LEVITTOWN, NY — A Levittown man has been charged with murder after a woman was shot to death in the home they shared.

Cheryl Dinapoli, 61, of Cord Lane, was found dead around 11:45 p.m. Thursday following a disturbance at her home, Nassau County police said. Thomas Dinapoli, 67, was found injured and arrested outside the home. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. Both Dinapolis had multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Police identified them on Saturday but didn't immediately say how the Dinapolis were related.

Thomas Dinapoli was charged with 2nd-degree murder and 2nd-degree attempted murder. He will appear in court at a later date when medically able, police said.
