Levittown Schools Honor Students' Standout Service

The Board of Education honored more than a dozen students for the work they do around the district and the community.

LEVITTOWN, NY — More than a dozen Levittown middle school and high school students, who go above and beyond in their volunteer service, were honored at the board of education meeting on Jan. 12.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tonie McDonald said that the students are role models who represent the kindest students in Levittown.

“They are the students that never want to be recognized,” she said.

MacArthur High School Principal Joseph Sheehan honored Ryann Murphy and Timothy Trainer for the support they provide to students with autism in the Applied Behavioral Analysis program.
Division Avenue High School recognized leaders form the Peer Pals Club, which is charged with spreading cheer throughout the school. Principal John Coscia said the club is based on empathy, integrity and respect. He and adviser Kristy Verdi presented certificates to Emma List, Emma Spreckels and Amani Rodriguez.

Members of the Buddies Clubs were recognized from Jonas Salk and Wisdom Lane middle schools. Salk Principal John Zampaglione and advisers Catina Martinez and Francesca McQuade noted the service efforts of Ryan Ambrosino, Madison Heaney, Henry Miale, Robbie Ruocchio, Sadie Saccone and Kevin Tierney.
