Levittown Senior Doubly Honored By College Board

LEVITTOWN, NY — Kayla Coradin, a senior at General Douglas MacArthur High School, has been named a 2021-22 scholar in both the College Board’s National African American Recognition Program and National Hispanic Recognition Program.

Scholars are chosen based on their PSAT scores, taken during their junior year, and for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. The academic honor helps to boost students who identify as Hispanic, African American or Indigenous and connect them with universities across the country.

Kayla plans to study architecture in college.

“[My ethnicity] revolves around everything I do,” Kayla said. “I always make sure to celebrate and acknowledge both sides.”

“Kayla has been a magnificent student to work with these past four years,” Principal Joe Sheehan said. “I just know she’s going to be an enormous success at the next level of her life.”
