Nassau Woman Drunken Driving With 2 Young Passengers: Police

WESTBURY, NY — A Levittown woman was arrested early Friday for drunken driving with young passengers in the vehicle, police said.

Olga Romero-Lopez, 35, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated (Leandra's Law) that happened at 2:15 a.m., authorities said.

Romero-Lopez was spotted driving a black 2011 Toyota Rav4 with multiple traffic infractions when she pulled over on School Street near the intersection of Whittier Street, police said.

Officers said Romero-Lopez had watery eyes, an odor of alcohol coming from her breath and appeared unsteady on her feet, police said.

A positive result in the field sobriety test led to her being placed under arrest without incident, police said.

Two girls, aged 5 and 11, were passengers in the car, and were released into the custody of a family member.

Romero-Lopez was also charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of driving while intoxicated.

She was scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
