Levittown’s Division Avenue High School varsity baseball team is off to another great start, as the team has already won five league games in Conference A-II to jump out to a perfect 5-0 record.
During last Monday’s game, senior Justin Wiertz went 2-4 with a run scored to pace the offense in an 8-3 win over Seaford. Senior pitcher Anthony Semonella also pitched five innings, allowing six hits while striking out five. In addition, junior Mark Martinez went 2-4 with an RBI.
In the second game of the week, the team’s success continued with a 4-1 win over Lynbrook. Martinez threw a complete game, allowing only two hits out of a total of 68 pitches. Sophomore Anthony Papa also sparked the offense by going 3-4 with two RBIs.
The third game resulted in a 12-3 win against Manhasset. Wiertz continued his hot hitting by going 3-4 with a run scored. Senior Nick Boldi and junior Chris Reilly both went 2-4 as the team pounded out 15 hits.
Sophomore Anthony Papa also received his first varsity win by throwing six innings and allowing five hits with three earned runs. The defense has been led by senior catcher Boldi, who has been outstanding behind the plate for the Dragons.Â
