LONG ISLAND, NY — There's a lot of wet weather in the forecast for Long Island this week. With a flood watch in effect for much of the island on Monday, we could be seeing lots of rain as the week goes on.

According to the National Weather Service, there's a high chance of rain every day this week, ranging from showers to thunderstorms.

Temperatures are predicted to be in the 80s for most days, climbing as the week goes on.

This Afternoon: A chance of showers, then showers and thunderstorms likely after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. West wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 1 a.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 1 and 4 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 a.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Patchy fog after 1 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 69. East wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Tuesday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 4 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. East wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Tuesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m., then a slight chance of showers. Patchy fog after 10 p.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Southeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9 a.m. Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 85. Southeast wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Wednesday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 3 a.m. Patchy fog after 3 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 70.

Thursday: Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 88.
