Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray (pictured left) and Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin (right) recently attended the Town of Hempstead’s E-cycling event in Levittown on August 3.

The town collected a total of about 46,600 pounds (23 tons) of e-cycling waste during the event in Levittown, according to Mike Russo, Town of Hempstead.

Murray and Clavin thanked residents like Joe Pizzillo of Bellmore for properly recycling electronic materials such as computers and televisions. This program helps prevent toxic materials, such as lead, mercury and arsenic, from entering the waste stream.
