UPDATE: Power Outages Reported in Levittown
Crews are currently assessing the situation and could have power restored by 5 p.m. Friday.

Power in Levittown has been restored, while 66 customers in the Town of Hempstead remain powerless, according to the LIPA outage map.

As of 12:03 p.m., LIPA is reporting 46 households are without power throughout the Town of Hempstead, 13 of which are in Levittown.
Power could be restored in Levittown by 5 p.m., according to LIPA's outage map.
The power authority is closely monitoring weather conditions and electric usage throughout the area, and will continue to have extra crews available to respond to outages that may be associated with the hot weather.
“LIPA has a sufficient supply to meet customer demand," John D. McMahon, chief operating officer for LIPA, said in a press release. “We remain in close communication with our elected officials, municipalities, the office of emergency management, and our critical care customers and facilities during this sustained heat event.”
The current temperature in Levittown is 91 degrees, but it actually feels like 106 degrees with the heat index, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are expected to hit as high as 98 today with the heat index topping out at 110. An excessive heat warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Friday.
