Science Students Win 2nd Place in eCYBERMISSION Competition

Selena Rodriguez, Bianca Marinelli and Korey Magnus designed a device to dispense medication.

Each year students in New York State participate in the prestigious eCYBERMISSION Competition sponsored by the United States Army.

In the eCYBERMISSION Competition, students are challenged to brainstorm an invention and test their creations. Island Trees Schools is proud to announce that out of the thousands of students who submitted entries in eCYBERMISSION Competition, a team from MMS won second place in the state.

Eighth graders Selena Rodriguez, Bianca Marinelli and Korey Magnus, members of the second place team, designed a device to dispense medication. By creating a lever that pulls out one tablet at a time, the group brainstormed a project that ensures that a person cannot dispense more than one pill.

Each student who won second place will receive a $500 savings bond.

"Congratulations to all of the award winners and Mrs. Eileen Anderson, teacher of the grade 8 Science Enrichment class at MMS," said Dr. Roger Bloom, Principal at MMS. "We are proud of your accomplishments and success."
