“I am here to ask you to join me in taking the first steps toward a better year,” Talbert said to attendees. “We may not have the same rhythm as last year, but I believe that together, we can find a new harmony, one that is built on trust, resilience and a shared commitment to our students and to each other.”
Board of Education President Lisa Johnson also echoed these sentiments in her address to the staff and warmly welcomed all in attendance.

Talbert then outlined a series of goals for the upcoming school year centered on core academic areas, school culture and climate, parental and family engagement and finance and budgeting.
She also encouraged all staff members to identify their primary goals as educators, recognize any barriers in achieving these goals and reflect on what they can do to build a bridge from these roadblocks.
