It’s Thursday, and spring recess is almost over. For those of you who observe, this week is also Passover and Holy Week, and Easter’s right around the corner, with the bunny in tow.
It’s quiet in Lindenhurst, but there are a few noteworthy items. Plus, learn how you can share your opinion and help Lindenhurst Patch.

1. Check out the Thursday movie at the . Today’s LML feature is The King’s Speech, and it starts at 1:30 p.m.
2. For those of you observing today, (OLPH) is holding the Solemn Mass of the Lord’s Supper and the Beginning the Paschal Triduum will be concelebrated at 8 p.m. Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament will take place from 9 p.m. until midnight. Confession will be held between 4 p.m.-5 p.m. You can see a full listing of the Holy Week mass and confession schedule on the OLPH website.

3. : That’s the latest headline in School News. And Lindenhurst Patch needs your help as it – along with Patch sites across Long Island – .
Lindenhurst Patch, video camera in hand, will be at the Lindenhurst Council of PTAs meeting where Meet the Candidate/Budget Presentation will take place on April 27 at 7:30 p.m. at elementary school.
We’re seeking outspoken members of the community – the same ones who may have already spoken at the workshop this year, as well as fresh voices willing to speak up – to share their thoughts on video and in writing.
For instance:
- Is your child an athlete whose sport will disappear next year?
- Are you an elderly resident struggling to pay high taxes, even though you have no children in the district?
- Are you a younger resident in a similar situation?
- Are you a parent who just can’t fathom how one of their child’s favorite teachers will be laid off?
- Are you a parent who sends their kids to private school and still have to pay public school taxes?
- Or are you a past student who can’t believe the extra-curricular programs that played such a huge role in their lives will be gone?
Lindenhurst Patch wants to hear from you, so here’s your chance to give us your take on this year’s school budget process.

4. Because the Gilgo Beach police investigation hits so close to home, and so many Lindy residents make the Town of Babylon beaches a second home in the summertime, Lindenhurst Patch is asking:

5. The is seeking support. Scheduled for May 14 at the high school, all proceeds will benefit the students of Lindenhurst schools. Gates open at 8 a.m. Check-in will run until noon. Awards and raffles will start at 3 p.m. Rain date is May 15.
There will be food, music, baskets, displays and events. Raffle tickets are available now for $20.00 each.
There will also be a raffle to win a 2011 Toyota Prius Hybrid from Atlantic Toyota. For details visit the dedicated website.
It’ll be open to cars, trucks, motorcycles and bicycles at a $10 pre-register fee and $15 day-of-show fee. Included with paid entry is one free raffle ticket for a chance to win a NASCAR Drive Experience. Bicycles and spectators get in for free. First- and second-place trophies in each of 15 classes – plus best in show – will be awarded.
Vendors (at $25 each) and food vendors (at $100 each) are also needed.
