According to news release from police last night, residents of Gilgo Beach, West Gilgo Beach, Oak Beach, Oak Island and Cedar Beach will be able to access their homes via the Robert Moses Causeway. Proof of residency will be required.

1. There was still no word as to when the Lindenhurst school budget will be finalized at last night’s regularly scheduled Board of Education business meeting at the on Daniel Street. This meeting followed the series of presented by the board.
The BOE was expected to finalize the budget at last Thursday’s workshop, and adopt the budget at last night’s meeting. However, the BOE as it continues talks with the teachers’ union, TAL.

2. Tonight the Lindenhurst Fire Department will elect a new chief. will swear in the new chief following the elections at 9 p.m. at Fireman’s Park.

3. Check out the at at 1:30 p.m. Today’s feature is Get Low. Later, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the LML will host an . This four-session workshop is designed to prepare students for all aspects of the SAT.
And next Tuesday, April 12 the LML will have its . It’ll run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the library.
4. E.W. Bower elementary school's Parents as Reading Partners week – themed Reading Is out of This World – continues with the Scholastic Spring Book Fair. It will be held today from 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. in the gym.
In addition, as part of Bower’s PARP, visit the LML between April 1-8 and enter your name in a raffle. Complete reading logs and contracts, and hand in activity packets to win more prizes.
5. The is seeking support. Scheduled for May 14 at the high school, all proceeds will benefit the students of Lindenhurst schools. Gates open at 8 a.m. Check-in will run until noon. Awards and raffles will start at 3 p.m. Rain date is May 15.
There will be food, music, baskets, displays and events. Raffle tickets are available now for $20.00 each.
There will also be a raffle to win a 2011 Toyota Prius Hybrid from Atlantic Toyota. For details visit the dedicated website.
It’ll be open to cars, trucks, motorcycles and bicycles at $10 pre-register and $15 day-of-show. Included with paid entry is one free raffle ticket for a chance to win a NASCAR Drive Experience. Bicycles and spectators get in for free. First- and second-place trophies in each of 15 classes – plus best in show – will be awarded.
Vendors (at $25 each) and food vendors ($100 each) are also needed.
