April 8 Lindy Edition
What's happening includes a rescheduled date for school budget adoption, a new fire chief, little league baseball, a prom and a question.
Friday brings us more clouds, several new things and the promise of a good weekend. So let’s get right to them:
1. After Lindenhurst Patch posted the story that there was no rescheduled date set yet for adoption of expenditures after – which supposed to occur March 31 – and adoption – which was supposed to occur at Wednesday night’s meeting – the school district announced a for both.

- April 13 is the new date set for the final budget workshop and special meeting. It’ll start at 8:30 p.m. at the auditorium.
The BOE had while it continued talks with the teachers’ union, TAL. However, there’s no word yet whether or not they’ve reached an agreement.

2. Last night the Lindenhurst Fire Department elected a new chief. Three assistant chiefs moved up and a new assistant chief was installed. Look for the story about the elections and swearing them at Fireman’s Pavilion.

4. E.W. Bower elementary school's Parents as Reading Partners week – themed Reading Is out of This World – finishes today. But first, as part of Bower’s PARP, don’t forget to visit the between April 1-8 and enter your name in a raffle. Complete reading logs and contracts, and hand in activity packets to win more prizes.
3. And next Tuesday, April 12, the LML will have its . It’ll run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the library.
5. This weekend, be sure to check out the following events:
- The senior citizens’ prom will take place at the April 9. It starts at 4 p.m. Look for the superintendent who told the community at Wednesday night’s BOE meeting he will be attending.
- Lindenhurst little league baseball kicks off the season April 10. At 10 a.m. the Lindenhurst American League kicks off with its parade starting at the Sears parking lot on North Wellwood Avenue in North Lindenhurst.
- At 12:45 p.m. the Lindenhurst National Little League has its opening day parade. It starts in village square – – and ends Edward F. Kienle field in Fireman’s Park. Mayor Brennan will be attending both parades.
In addition, Suffolk Police ended its search of beaches along Ocean Parkway yesterday, handing it to Nassau Police who picks it up today, and will begin searching Jones Beach on Monday.
