August 26 Lindy Edition: Concerts & Hurricane
What's happening today and through the weekend includes a couple of concerts tonight and several Saturday events despite impending Hurricane Irene – plus a few storm-related cancelations and postponements.
Normally, it’d be TGIF, but with bearing down on Lindenhurst and Long Island this weekend, but maybe not so much today.
So while we wait for the impact of the storm this weekend, here are of a South Shore beach and images from to brighten your day.

3. Lindenhurst’s own will play with Ed “the Hat” D’Alessio as at starting at tonight.
4. will take the stage at Village Square tonight at 7:30 p.m. as part of the VOL’s .
5. The , originally scheduled for Saturday at from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday has been due to the weather. The fundraiser had replaced the original Saturday night Village Square concert by , as the acts were going to lend their time to the benefit.
6. The Town of ’s annual that was set to start on Saturday at 3 p.m. has been postponed due to the weather. The made the call Thursday to postpone the by one week. It’s now rescheduled for Saturday, September 3 at 3 p.m.
7. The Lindenhurst Rotary Club’s has been due to the weather by Lindenhurst Village Mayor Tom Brennan. There is no rain date.
8. Organizers have indicated that the Kindergarten Meet and Greet for incoming students will still take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the elementary school’s playground, “as long as it's not raining at that time.”
9. The Lindenhurst Fire Police Squad Antique and Custom Car Show scheduled for Saturday at Firemen's Park starting at 10 a.m. will be still be held. The fundraiser is supposed to run until 3 p.m., but LFD First Assistant Chief Mike McCloud said it'll "go until it starts raining," since the first rains from the impending hurricane are expected to start Saturday afternoon.
10. Organizers say that the Lindenhurst Football and Cheerleading League is “still going on as planned for Kids’ Outback Bowl 2011 at Venetian Shores on Saturday at 9 a.m.”
