A Book Vending Machine Comes To Alleghany Avenue Elementary
A book vending machine has come to Alleghany Avenue Elementary School as part of its PAWS behavioral program.

LINDENHURST, NY —Alleghany Avenue Elementary School has put a new twist on making reading fun.
Students now have a fun new way to earn free books with a book vending machine that students are able to use as an award for good behavior.
The book vending machine was introduced as part of the school’s Practice Respect, Accept Responsibility, Work Hard and Safety Matters, aka PAWS, schoolwide behavior program. Students are rewarded with access to the machine and its books inside for demonstrating one or more of these important behavioral habits.

It is a visually appealing and interactive way to get students excited about reading and to encourage good behavior. To kick off the vending machine unveiling, every student at Alleghany received one free book to read over the summer. The initiative is being supported by the Alleghany PTA.
