Bulldogs Suffer Loss to Lions (Photos)

Lindenhurst fall behind 10-1 in the second half en route to 17-6 loss to West Islip.

In what was a nip-and-tuck battle through the first half turned into a rout as West Islip Lions defeated the  team 17-6 Tuesday in the final home game of the regular season.

Following a spirited first half in which the two teams traded goals through most of the first 24 minutes, West Islip outscored the Bulldogs 6-1 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

For Lindy, according to Newsday.com, Dan Alazraki had three goals; Nick Franco, two goals and one assist; Mike Renick, one goal and two assists; Damian Romanelli, one assist; and Kyle Cropsey, one assist.

Goalie Carl Palladino had two saves while goalie John Montaniz had 10 saves.

But the Bulldogs' efforts weren't enough against the Lions.

West Islip (13-0, 14-1) was led by Brendan Smith’s six goals and eight total points, while Tom Moore chipped in with three goals and two assists. Smith has been on a goal-scoring tear recently having found the back of the cage 17 times over the past three games.

Lindy Boys Lacrosse (4-8, 4-10) - which was recently at the center of controversy when 10 players were while heading back from a tournament upstate - plays again Thursday, , afternoon at 4 p.m.

The team will go on the road to take on Riverhead at Pulaski Complex.

Meanwhile, the Lions finish the regular season on Thursday at Connequot. A win would guarantee West Islip the top seed in the Suffolk County Division I playoffs.
