According to the article, this year marks the first time administrators at in South Huntington, have banned gay couples from attending the prom after a 17-year-old female student asked to take a female date, who’s not a student at the school.
School officials said the decision is based on church teaching. Students said they should be able to bring whom they choose, and shouldn’t have to purchase an extra ticket if two students of the same sex want to go together.
