LHS Boys’ Track Team Beats Ward Melville
Track team triumphs with a score of 91 to Ward Melville's 45 in a dual meet.
The Varsity Boys’ Track team recently powered past Ward Melville, 91-45, on the track and at the jumps at their most recent dual meet.
On the track at the May 9 meet two new LHS records were set. In the 110 meter high hurdles Senior Rich DeMaio set a new school record of 15.1 seconds, with Lindenhurst sweeping the event, taking first, second and third place. In the 200 meter sprint Paul Dequilfeldt also set a new school record.
In the field events Lindenhurst swept the pole vault competition, led by Senior Vaulter Dan Langone, who took first place, followed by underclassmen Scott Geyer and Steven Shipsey.

Lindy also took home first and second place in shotput, with solid performances by Nat Ahlers and Dan Albert. Rounding out the field events, Senior Nick Cervasio took second in the discus competition.
In the long jump AJ Carew took first while Jamal Salley took third. Salley also took second place in the triple jump while Cervasio took third place in the same event. High Jumpers Dan Geist and Cervasio took first and second place, respectively.

In addition, the Boys’ Track team swept the 400-meter hurdles, led by senior Frank Gravano, with Demaio and John Seery close on his heels. Dequilfeldt sprinted to a 100-meter victory, with Vincent Destasio putting in a third-place run.
Rob Festa won the 800-meter run, trailed very closely by Second-Place Finisher Senior Rich Schimmel.
The Bulldogs also won the 1600-meter event, with a solid performance from Brandon Ahl, and they took first and third places in the 3200 Meter event, led by Brendan Ruppel. Marcin Adamchick also took third place in the event.
Lindenhurst’s next meet is the Invitational held in Copiague on May 17
